Ukraine Crisis: Apex Supporting Humanitarian Aid
What is the current situation in Ukraine?
Since the first attacks on Ukraine on 24th February 2022, more than 2 million people – mostly women & children – have been displaced from their homes. They have been forced to flee to neighbouring countries, with more than half of those refugees arriving in neighbouring Poland. According to the UN Refugee Agency, it is expected that in the coming days, this number will double to 4 million people (WEF, 10/03/2022).
Last week we had a call from the Biddulph Rotary Club requesting a donation of boxes for shipping supplies of sleeping bags, survival blankets, sanitary towels, nappies, first aid kits & other essential items over to districts bordering Ukraine, allowing the amazing volunteers at ground level provide aid to the refugees who have been forced from their homes with nothing.
How did we help?
On Tuesday 8th March, Donna & Paul from our Congleton branch delivered 200 boxes to Glebe Farm to assist Biddulph Rotary Club with their mission. These boxes will be filled with supplies by volunteers, packed up and shipped over to various makeshift refugee camps.
